Pet friendly establishments in small towns make it possible to go be able to take your pet with you.
More and more popular holiday destinations now offer value for money bed and breakfast and pet friendly too! There are entire books written that are just devoted to the needs of pets and their owners. These books have names and addresses of bed and breakfast pet friendly inns. Some establishments however may have some limitations regarding the number of pets they can accommodate at any given time. They may even have some restrictions on the breed of pet and its age and size and of course, most will expect your pet to be well behaved.

Once the decision has been made to go on a short break and the bed and breakfast selected, it is a good idea to phone them just before you leave and make sure the bed and breakfast confirm that accommodation for pets is available on your chosen day. It is best to check as there may be accommodation for the family, but no place for your pet.
Also, it is advisable to ask if they have any restrictions as to the size and type of pet welcomed.
Your typical bed and breakfast, wether pet friendly or otherwise, has a calm and intimate atmosphere, quite unlike a large hotel or holiday resort. Well behaved pets may well be welcome but owners will have to ensure that the dogs are fully house trained and have not become disoriented because of the road journey or because of his new surroundings. They should not of course, disturb other guests, or chew furniture etc. Bed and breakfast pet friendly establishments may have certain areas which are kept pet free. As the pet owner you have to ensure that these ground rules are obeyed.
Many bed and breakfast pet friendly establishments do not charge any extra for their four legged guests. Others may ask for a refundable deposit which is returned in full barring any accidents. Some may even charge extra per night for allowing pets. Many owners though feel that it is a small price to pay for the joy of taking pets on holiday.
